Handkerchief

When you go walking at the Y, you get to know the other walkers.  Time goes so much faster if you are talking to someone.  I know a lady who is in her eighties and exercises very regularly.  We were talking about the tour I went on, The Casket Tour in October.  She told me that her grandfather owned a lace factory in Swatow China.  Today she brought a keepsake from his factory to show me.  Oh my what a wonderful piece of lace.  It was fascinating to hear how her grandfather would get commissions for lace in New York and even from the Royal Family.  Linen would be imported from New York or Europe and the designs drawn on the very fine linen.  Then a middleman would take the various pieces to women in the area to work on in their homes.  This handkerchief was worked in 1933.
I am wondering what the count of the linen was.  I'll have to get a magnifying glass and see.  It looks to be very very fine.

My friend is going to bring show an article from a newspaper about this.  It is so cool to get to see this up close and personal.
