WIPs

Many stitchers posting videos on Flosstube are listing the projects in progress (WIPs) that they want to finish in 2017.  I have some works in progress that I want to finish off too.  It worked well last year to concentrate on Mistress L and get her all done.  Also, looking forward to Jenny's Wren project, I made a big effort to finish The Owl and the Pussycat.  2017 is the year to finish Home Sweet Home.

I have all the parts.  It is not that difficult to get it all done.  It is embroidery as opposed to cross stitch.  I have less confidence doing embroidery.  In looking through my stuff, I found all the parts.  I decided to get going, to try and find some momentum.  Yesterday I laced on the roof halves to the boards for the roof.

The one side that is done is the bottom.  It got laced onto it's board.
If you look closely, you can see that I stitched the date 2014 on the bottom.
I decided on lining fabric.  I love the model but the advice from a person who made this project was to not use striped fabric to line it.  Matching up stripes is a pain.  So this is the fabric that I decided on.

I bought it when I was at Liberty in London.  Love it.  Today I am going to put together the lining and maybe the inside tray.  I took a class in Indianapolis in cartonnage.  I think I can put the tray and lining together in a different way than the directions in the book.

That is the plan.  Let's see if I can do it.

A commentor wanted to know what the Y was. Y stands for YMCA, Young Mens Christian Association. It has outgrown that name as it is for everybody.  It is kind of a community center that offers opportunites to exercise.  There are exercise classes, swimming pool. weight room, walking track and many other activities.  There is a yearly fee.  There is one not too far from my house.  So when the park is too cold and snowy, I go to the Y to walk.  I have no excuse not to exercise!

  3. Such a pretty project! It's a box and the roof opens up? Oh, you're supposed to hide your name and date are on the bottom - sad. After the Owl and the Pussycat, this should be a piece of cake for you.
