Hoops

I bought a couple of embroidery hoops on Ebay.  A shop owner told us about some vintage hoops called Duchess.  She really liked them.  I am so easily influenced, it is ridiculous.  I stitch in hand and most often don't even use hoops.  But after she told us about them, I just had to try one.  Then there is that whole thing about winning an auction on Ebay.  I'm not very lucky when it comes to winning.  I tried bidding on hoops a couple of times.  This last time, I won two Duchess hoops:  a small round hoop and a 9 by 5 oval hoop.  Cool.  They came in the mail yesterday.  They were in very nice condition.

The unusual thing about Duchess hoops is the insert of felt around the inside hoop.

The felts of both these hoops were in very good condition.  Also, there is no tightening screw, it is the felt that keeps your linen taut.

I was pleased with what I bought and I needed the oval hoop.  I wanted to start the Erica Michael Circle of Friends project on the silk gauze.

It needs to be worked in a hoop.  I was able to start it but I really need the step stool I ordered to set my new magnifier lamp on. (It should come in the mail today.) One of these days I'll get all my ducks in a row and be able to stitch.  I got part of the scissors in but realized that I am one stitch off and have to frog some.  I figure I will make fewer mistakes if I can see what I am doing.

I watched a very entertaining Flosstube video from lindystitches (2016 Wrap Up).  She was showing what she got for Christmas, it was very funny.  She got some perfume.  I am so suggestible that I had to go see what it smelled like.  Yes, I got some.  It is ridiculous.

  1. LOL!! I would do the same thing. In fact, I need to watch the video and see what you saw, then run out and smell it.
