Indy Day 4

I forgot to tell you about our name tags.  They have a button on them that has a magnet on the back and another magnet to hold it onto your shirt.  Therefore, it is a needle minder when you are done with your name tag.  Cool idea.

Saturday of last week was another class day.  It was raining (still!), so no walking.  I made sure to get to Always in Stitches right at 9:30 so I could see what they had.  It is mainly a quilt store but I was impressed with the amount of cross stitch stuff they had.  I got a couple of things that I had seen on Flosstube videos.  I saw some of the Sulky Petites thread.  It is a cotton thread that equals about 1 and 1/2 plies of floss.  You can cross stitch with it.

I wanted to try it.  It comes in plain and variegated colors.

Then I saw Best Press.  At first I was confused with all the different colors.  Which one should I buy?  But then I realized that the different colors were different scents.  It is a spray starch but it is in a squirt bottle and not a can with a nozzle that keeps getting gummed up.  Hey, that could be handy.

The morning was spent going over instructions for the Virgin Queen's Stitching Wallet.  I finished the needle book yesterday but I hadn't even put a stitch into the main project.  Someone asked Betsy about how to do the double running stitch.  She was so patient and went through just how she would do it.  There are many places to start but she showed us what she would do.  This was very helpful.  I am self taught and no one has ever showed me how to do double running which is  Betsy's favorite stitch.
At lunch Barb and I decided to try the small cafe next to Always in Stitches and if we had time to look for a few minutes through the store (again!).  The cafe is called Ginger's.  You know they are a down home place when one of the sides is deviled eggs.  I think I got the grilled cheese.  It was good.
We looked for a while at Always in Stitches, which is dangerous as I am always tempted to buy fabric.  They had a special deal too, 20 fat quarters for 30 dollars.  I resisted!

Saturday afternoon is another class, Virgin Queen's Stitching Pocket.

It uses the same colors of floss and is in the same style as the Virgin Queen's Stitching Wallet.  We saw the tassel making demonstration.  It is always good to be reminded of the steps in making a tassel.  We worked on the scissors fob that was in our pre-stitching.  I finished mine.

A bunch of us decided to go to Steak and Shake for dinner.  It is a guilty pleasure as we all love the skinny fries.  I got a cheeseburger slider and a hot dog.  I can never decide between them, so I got both!  It was fun to get a chance to talk and hear what is going on with others.
It is still raining.
I stitched a bit in my hotel room while watching Miss Fisher's Mysteries.  I hadn't seen that before.  I also saw a bit of the induction show into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  Boy, everybody looks so old.  This weekend has gone so fast.  Tomorrow is our last class.
