Three Blue Flowers and More

I managed to get the other two blue flowers stitched on the Cottage Conservatory.

I used a different skein of cornflower blue that had more dark in it.  I like it better.  I messed up the leaves (again!).  So I've taken one out and am putting it back in again.
Mr. Mailman was good to me and brought me my book on Polish Folk Embroidery.

I once took a class in composition from artist Jack Beal who encouraged us to beg, borrow and steal when it came to painting.  So when it comes to ideas and inspiration, I take in everything I can.  When I was visiting Janet, she had this book out and was matching colors of thread to the colors in a photo.  So I went home, looked up the book and found it on ebay.

I don't know a word of Polish but the pictures are inspiration for design and color.

Then I got a nudge yesterday.  I knew it would happen.  I'm totally immersed in Cottage Conservatory and here are two new lessons for the Spring Casket Keepsakes.  I need to get back and finish that detached buttonhole.  One person working on it said she just kept at it thinking "one more row" until it was done.  I am not very happy with how even (uneven!!) my stitches are.

I don't even think I have the right number.  I'm hoping I get better at it as I go along.  But now I must get back to it!!
I've been waiting for Drawn Thread's new designs to come out and they came out today.  I really wanted the pocket we saw at Spring Fling but, alas, it wasn't there.  I did get several of the new designs.  I will I have a new alphabet to stitch for Claire.  Her designs are such fun to stitch.  Which reminds me that I have sorely neglected my Spring Fling  design.  Oh to have more time.

  1. I love the Cornflower Blue flowers. Blue is my favourite colour and if I had my way all the flowers in my garden would be blue. You are making great progress with the Cottage Conservatory. How you keep so many projects on the go at one time I can't imagine. I know I get really flustered when I have more than two or three. Well done you.
