Back Home Again

I am back from my adventures in Arizona.  It was a great trip but I am glad to be back to my sewing room and regular life.  It seems like I was gone a long time.  The first and last days were just spent traveling.  A friend was going to go with me but couldn't.  The trip would have been even more fun if she could have gone too.  Okay, so this post is about getting there.  I was so good on the day I left, as I went walking as usual.  This is a photo I took as I was waiting to board the plane to Detroit.

There is an owl sitting on the top of the walkway to the plane.  I wonder if that is an omen of some sort?  I got to Detroit fine.  But when it came time to leave for Phoenix, there was a fueling problem with the plane.  I had a great view from my window of guys trying to fix something on the wing.

Finally a guy came out with a big screwdriver and things started looking up.  We took off an hour late.  Ugh.  But you always want the plane to work fine when you are flying.  I remember one flight a few years ago that was delayed  because the coffeemaker didn't work.  That delay was silly.  So we arrived just fine in Phoenix, just later than planned.  Alas, no shopping today.  I'm glad I've been to the Phoenix airport before so I know the drill.  Take the shuttle to the rental car place.  Stand in line forever.  Get a car you hope you can drive.  Remember to ask how to turn on the lights and how to put gas in it.  I have my new GPS so I can get anywhere more or less, if there is no construction.  DH would be appalled to know that I rented a fire engine red car.  There weren't many cars left to choose from.  I'm a little skittish about driving after my fender bender two weeks ago.  My poor GPS got quite a work out as I kept turning the wrong direction.  (No!  Your other left!)  I swear I made at least 4 wrong direction turns.  But I got to the resort.

It was pretty fancy looking.  The resort is closing this month for renovation so I wasn't expecting such a nice place.  My room looks out onto the swimming pool.

Wow, there are a lot of chairs.  People are actually sitting out in the sun.  Since I am on Eastern time, bedtime is 8 p.m.  I'm no fun.  Tomorrow I'm going to The Attic and The Fractured Prune.  Can't wait.
