Wreath Of Roses

I finished the embroidery on Wreath of Roses!

The finishing into a needlebook looks involved and a bit complex. But I haven't read the directions yet.

I walked today out of guilt as I didn't walk yesterday. DH says we should order the stuff we want to give the grandkids soon. So I'm going to be looking at toys today. I like to shop online.

One More Side

Amy Mitten's Garden Thief tray has one more side all stitched now.  Only one more side and the bottom to go.

It is slowly getting done.
It's a rainy day. It's also windy. So I'm enjoying a day off from walking. I had a wonderful surprise in the mail - candy! My favorite. Hope your day is full of sweet things.

Happy Mail

I got a couple of charts I ordered. This is by Brenda Gervais. I think it is stitched over one on 28 count.

They looked like they would be fun to stitch.

I looked up when I ordered a bunch of threads from SBB and it was August 25th. I am still waiting.

I walked today since tomorrow it is supposed to be raining all day long.

My Goal

I really want to get this queen all done and put on the top of my casket. My goal this week is to get this all stitched. I have put it off and it is now time to finish it.

I worked on it last night and made good progress.

I walked in sunshine this morning. There is a big construction project going on across the street. It used to be  where horses were kept. Now it is going to be senior housing. I have doctor appointments Thursday and Friday. So if I'm late posting, that's why.

Fabric

Facebook gets me in terrible trouble. I am fascinated by the gadgets it shows, I kept seeing Janet Claire's Botanicals fabric designs.  So I went looking for them. I ordered some fabrics. I have a thing for fabric.

I bought  most of these fabrics for finishing.
I never can resist William Morris fabrics.
I found several fabrics I thought were pretty and were small enough prints for finishing smalls.
Then I got this map fabric.

This is from French General and is linen printed with embroidery designs.

DH just rolls his eyes when I buy fabric.
I don't care.

Wreath of Roses

I have made good progress on Wreath of Roses.

I had to take out the bow three times to get it like I wanted. I bet if I worked hard I could get this all stitched today.
I slept late - it was glorious. It is raining hard outside so no walking . Still itching to start something new.

Saturday

I did not manage my time well yesterday so that's my excuse for not posting. However, I had a good day. I had lunch with two friends I haven't seen in a long time. I had a slice of pumpkin roll for dessert. Yum!

It smelled like fall when I went walking. The leaves are changing color and coming off the trees. I wish summer weather would last a bit longer. It's not easy for me to adjust to colder temperatures.

It was my goal to get to the upper left corner of Come to the Garden.

Overall:

Pretty good progress. I'm hoping that I don't run out of Crescent Colors Manor Red.

One More Side

I got one more side done on the Garden Thief tray. I'm using up the scraps of linen left over from the first kit. I going to have to do the last three pieces (two more sides and the bottom of the tray) on new linen.

I've decided that I don't like the SAL so I'm done with that. Life is too short to do things you don't like.

My walking is done. I've got some lovely roses to look at.

Weird Wednesday

I bought something quirky.  It is an old silver spoon with a doll in it. Weird, I know. But I liked it. I have a thing for dolls and a small collection.

I saw these dolls by Stephanie Blythe when I was looking for something else.

I thought they were very interesting and I tracked one down.
This is the one I got.

I want to hang it on the wall but I have to wait until DH is gone so I can hammer a couple of nails in the wall.
It was a lovely day for walking and I walked a little farther than usual.
I love a sunny day.

Wreath of Roses

Here is where I am on Wreath of Roses.

It is coming along nicely. It is pretty! There is more that I need to finish the roses. Gold french knots go in the middle of each rose as well as some straight stitches.

The sun is shining, the walking is done. Doctor appointment is this afternoon.

Come to the Garden

I finished another page of Come to the Garden.

I discovered that the color floss I was using for the line in the border was wrong! No way am I changing it. I was supposed to use a darker color of brown. Since I am using a lighter color of linen some of the other floss colors weren't showing up. The bee wings were invisible so I outlined them in a light blue (927) and the inside line of the border was 422 but I changed it to 420. I outlined the white flowers in the strawberries in a gold.  I'm pretty impressed that I've gotten this far. I have to check out the next page.

It was lovely walking outside even though it is only 50 degrees.
My computer reminded me that six years ago today I was in a rainy York in the UK and actually ate Yorkshire pudding at a pub.

What a great trip that was.

The Garden Thief Tray

I started the tray base for the Garden Thief. It has seven motifs that are all the same. I was having trouble making mistakes so I changed to higher magnification readers. That helped. Working on 40 count is hard for me. So far I have four done and number 5 started. I hope to finish the tray base today.

I found the next chart for the SAL and printed it out. One thing I really like about this SAL is that the pieces are easily doable. I took one look and thought, I can do that, no problem.

i didn't go walking today (yet!) because of rain.

Have a great weekend.

Dish Towels

I ordered a dish towel from Long Dog Samplers.  It has the Death by Cross Stitch printed on it. I actually have the pattern but am intimidated by the size of it. I had a problem ordering and ended up with not being able to change the quantity from 2 to 1. So I have two of them!

I love it.

Pins and Needles

I got the writing all done on Wreath of Roses.

Each of the roses is stitched in at least two colors so this will take awhile. I'm so tempted to skip ahead and do a leaf or two. So far, so good.

I went walking this morning under threat of rain. Don't think I wasn't tempted to say I'm not walking, it looks like rain. I'm always glad I walked Especially since I sit way too much. My Apple watch tells me to stand up every hour but I don't do it most of the time. (Lazy)

SAL

I got the first section of the SAL (stitch along) all done. This is the start of Rooky Woods by Tempting Tangles.

The next section comes out tomorrow. I'm liking the variegated floss colors.

I am not sure about the color floss used in back stitching the leaf veins so I didn't put all of the back stitching in.

I have heard of Tempting Tangles. It appears to be lots of stitch-along designs rather than just a chart design company.

It was very foggy this morning when I went walking. And it is trash pick-up day so one has to watch out for garbage trucks. And barking dogs. And puddles.

Angel

I was hoping to finish the angel but I still have some filling to do.

Pretty good progress anyway.
I went walking even though it was sprinkling rain. There is an overly decorated house up the street. I bet they love Halloween. Crazy!

Done!

I made Sewn in Friendship into a drum. I finished just now.

I wasn't sure what color of felt to use for the top. So I ended up using the color I liked best. And it goes with the bird bird.
I went walking this morning. It is warm enough to wear shorts today.
I got the "d" out of Wreath of roses. I had to cut the threads. That's one way to learn how securely your stitches are - just see how hard it is to take them out. I got the angel almost done on Come to the garden. I'll show it tomorrow.

Here and There

I trimmed and ironed Sewn in Friendship. I need to trim some more off the top and bottom.

I tried to take out the Wreath of Roses "d". It was really hard to do so I think I'll have to cut threads to get them get the d out.  Maybe I'll start at the s and work back to the d.

I started the angel on Come to the Garden.

I didn't start the SAL yet. I made an apple pie instead. I was wondering if I could freeze apple slices as I had 5 apples left over after making the pie. So I googled and yes, you can slice and freeze apple slices. It is good to coat them in water with lemon juice in it so they won't turn brown.

Sewn in Friendship

I finished all the stitching on Sewn i Friendship.  This is made with two charts. One is from Heartstring Samplery  and the other from Plum Street Samplers.

The white (WDW Grits) doesn't show up very well even though I used Edinburgh Sand linen.

There are open places of linen but that's okay.

I meant to iron this and start on the finish-finishing. But I didn't get around to it yesterday. Maybe I can do it this afternoon.

It was raining when I woke up but when it stopped, I went walking. Good for me!

Rainy Day

It's a rainy day but I've out run the raindrops. I walked before it started rainy hard. I'm going to lunch with friends soon.

I worked on Wreath of Roses words. When I picked this up I only had "ins" done. Now I have three letters left to stitch.

Yes, it is a bit tedious to stitch the letters. I'm not real happy with the "d" and may take it out and restitch.
I found my Dinky Dye silks for the SAL! If I get a chance I may start that today.

Miscellaneous

I got my last issue of Giuliana Magazine.

Do I renew? Well, I haven't made anything based on the articles. This magazine is getting better at giving instructions and patterns for some of the projects in the magazine.  It is not like Inspirations that has complete instructions for all the featured projects. Giuliana is offering digital issues and subscriptions at about half the price of the print issues. So I'm still deciding what to do.

I didn't do any stitching on Come to the Garden. But I finished the side of The Garden Thief tray.

Still looking for my SAL threads. I walked so at least I did something today!

Come to the Garden

I am working on a third page of the Come to the Garden chart.

I'd like to finish the page today.
There is an angel on the left side I want to work over to.
It is overcast today and DH is at the grocery store. I can go walking when he comes back. The dogs next door are howling. They do that when they hear a siren. I can't hear the siren until it gets closer.
I didn't find the thread I was looking for but I didn't look yet.  I put it in a safe place so I wouldn't lose it!

Another Part

I'm working on Amy Mitten's The Garden Thief. I want to finish the carrot pull for the tape measure cover. I just have the curly strings on the carrot top left to finish. It is my goal to finish this today. I probably should have lined the linen with some muslin before stitching as I can see the shadow of the black thread on the carrot. Yes, I could remake it. But no, I don't want to.

I started the tray. This is one of the sides.

These are the pieces I need to stitch for the tray.

Looks like rain so I haven't walked yet. Another goal today is to find the Dinky Dye silks I bought for the SAL I signed up for. The first part was released on September 30th. It looks like something that could be stitched in a day or two.

Sewn In Friendship

I am getting close to a finish on this one. I decided to do the words over one so the drum wouldn't be so big and fat. The right side is done. There is room if I want to add a strawberry if I want.

I started on the other side and the words are done. There is a design above and below the words. I have to rearrange the bottom vine a bit. I want to eliminate a small bud and replace it with the larger flower.

We have a nice day here. I've walked my regular route.

October

Well, the infusion took way longer than I expected. So I missed posting yesterday. Here is where I am on Amy Mitten's queen for the top of a casket. I'm working on the borders, almost done with one side. I wasn't sure how the borders would look but I'm happy with them so far.

I didn't trust myself to work on this while on full chemo but now I think I can. My plaited braid stitch is getting better. You should see my friend Victoria Laine do plaited braid - perfection.

I can't believe it is October already.
