Rainy Day

It is raining today but that is good. It is melting the snow. DH would like the ice to melt off of the driveway so that it is not such an ice rink.
I got the last piece in the puzzle. My flights are booked to Celebrations. Yeah! I really am going. I'm hoping to get an email telling me that they received my registration. 51 days to go.
I have only a couple rows of beads and Eddy is all beaded. I think I said that yesterday. But my goal today is to finish him completely. I know there are some loops of beads at various sites on his body. But I don't think that will take too long. Then I have some ultrasuede to line him with.
I worked on the Gay Ann Rogers heart most of yesterday mainly because it was handy. To work on anything else I would have to go looking for parts which means I am basically lazy.
I even read some this week. Cutting for Stone is a long book. Close to 700 pages. So I am not quite half way through it. I am on the third disc (5 episodes per disc) out of seven for In Treatment. Saturdays there is such a lack of anything on that I will probably watch several episodes today.
The pharmaceutical experiment was successful! I like the lotion created and think it works well. Now if I can just talk DH into trying some....

Thirty Nine

Today is a special day. It is my 39th wedding anniversary. I can't believe I am that old -old enough to have been married 39 years. Or as DH says, it seems like a hundred! In a way it does seem like forever.
I got the Poppy biscornu sewn together yesterday. I think it looks good enough around the edge that I am not even going to put twisted cord on it. I was ferreting around in my laundry basket full of projects for something to work on. I happened to pull out the second Gay Ann Rogers' heart. Of course, I didn't have the called for threads. So I made do. I wanted to see how an overdyed Wildflowers thread looked and it is okay. It is really supposed to be a plain lavender color. I did the basting on this sucker three times and it still isn't right. Close enough!
Eddy is so very close to being all beaded. I tend to work on him just when I have daylight.
I saw a recipe on the web yesterday for cracked, dry hands. It is made of four ingredients. So I bought the four ingredients and I am going to make like a pharmacist and stir up the concoction. It is aloe, baby lotion, Vitamin E creme (expensive!) and petroleum jelly. All things that are good for hands, so mixed together they should be fine.
I want to finish Butterfly Garden. Two pockets left to go. Well, first I have to find the bag with the threads in it.

17

Time Marches on. There are 17 days until spring. There is hope for better weather and no more snow. I am ready to start the last section of Eddy. I have read the directions and they seem easy. Just rows of metal beads followed by light, medium and dark bead rows. When I started Eddy, I wasn't sure I would be able to do him. So it is great to see that yes, I did it. Thanks goodness for good directions. I am not a Bead person. So I am proud of myself.
I am so tempted to order stuff. Just Nan's new humbug comes out today. But I have so many things that need to be finished up, I just can't. Well, I have to admit that I did buy something on ebay but it was only 29 cents. And Needle in a Haystack is finally sending my order from last November. I will be good, I will be good.....
I hope to sew together the Poppy biscornu today. DH saw this bin of floss and was appalled and can't understand why I would ever need to order or buy any thread. But then he knows I have an obsession with cross stitch. This isn't even half the thread I have. I have a bin of specialty threads. I have organized containers of thread. I have piles of threads left over from projects. I have a cute little cabinet with skinny drawers - full of threads. I need a little elf to come in and organize everything. Me? I don't have time, I'm busy stitching.

All Signed Up

I have several events to look forward to in the next few months. Two of them are cross stitch related, the other is a family wedding. I signed up for 3 classes and 3 other events at Celebration of Needlework. Yeah! It promises to be very fun. I still have to get my flights but otherwise I am all set.
I worked on the bottom side of the poppy biscornu yesterday. Words, over one. It is a bit tedious. I watched 5 episodes of In Treatment which makes me feel very contemplative. What good acting in that series. I'm glad I don't have to wait a week in between each episode because I forget things between episodes like is Kyle her boyfriend or her brother. It makes more sense to watch them closer together.
Today I want to finish the last two (or so) belly scales on Eddy and then I can move on to the last section.
I have to figure out something Halona and I can do today. Her sister's birthday is tomorrow so maybe we can make a card. She always likes to draw on the board.
I really should wash the kitchen floor. Actually I really should replace the kitchen floor with tile. Not sure I am in the mood for either of those. Maybe I am in the mood for a pina colada.

Boxing Day

I didn't make a single cross stitch yesterday. I got the elastic so I could finish the Winter Box. I made good progress and just have to attach, somehow, the inside bottom of the box and it will be done. Done! I think between lacing, sewing and hot glue I can make it look nice.
The registration form is up! I can sign up for Celebrations. We (my BFF and I) are trying to co-ordinate our Celebration of Needlework plans so we can meet and take a field trip. I am very excited about going. Having been before, I know what to expect, the layout of the hotel, what the restaurant there offers, where the room is that looks like an entrance to the kitchen, etc.
The sun is out today. We have electricity. I've been to exercise class. Things are good.

Mid-Winter Break

Who couldn't use a break from winter? But actually, that's what they call this four day weekend at school. So I won't see Halona today. I'm planning on going on Wednesday. When I went last Wednesday, there was no one else in the mentoring room. We like having the room to ourselves. So all I have to do today is clean bathrooms before I can play.
I worked on the Winter Box yesterday but could only get so far before I needed some elastic. I don't have the right size so I'll have to get some at JoAnn's today. I cut down all eight sides and they fit in the lid now. Progress. This is very much a trial and error project. The directions use tacky glue but I don't have any of that so I'm using double stick tape. The kind that fits an automatic tape gun (ATG) which is way stronger than the scotch tape kind.
These are the last pictures for the Imagine scissors fob and the Keepsake Heart. I might add a bow to the heart. I have a cameo that may fit the center of the heart but I haven't tried it yet.
I picked up the poppy biscornu as it looks like it won't take too much work to finish it off. Eddy's face is finished. Yeah. Again, progress.
I watched the Oscars and thought is was nice. I am a fan of James Franco. But Anne Hathaway was very comfortable up there and a great host. The Marilyn Monroe bit fell flat.
I am trying to talk myself out of ordering stuff from market. Do I need more stuff to stitch? I must be crazy.
